The foundations of Altınbaş Jewelry had been laid as the Altınbaş Family started to engage in the wholesale jewelry business in the city of Gaziantep during the 1950s. Interpreting the enchanting background of Turkey with tantalizing models, Altınbaş sweeps women off to a magical land.
“Altınbaş Jewelry”, making retail sales, was established as a shop by Mehmet Altınbaş and his sons in 1975 in Gaziantep.
The Family’s wholesale 14-carat gold business started at Çuhacı Han, Istanbul, in 1985.
In 1994, Altınbaş set up Turkey’s first large-scale wholesale center in Şeref Han, İstanbul, and marketing teams were established.
In 1996, Altınbaş became the first company in Turkey’s jewelry business to advertise on national media.
In 1997, Altınbaş became the first company to establish a franchise system in jewelry in Turkey.
In 1998, the first Altınbaş retail store was opened in Sultanahmet.
In 2000, Altınbaş Jewelry added Altınbaş Diamond to its expansive product range.
In 2004, Altınbaş founded Turkey’s first and largest gold factory in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul.
In 2008, Altınbaş was inducted into the Turquality brand support program.
In the same year, Altınbaş received the “Consumer Friendly” brand award given by the “Tüketicinin Sesi” (Consumer’s Voice) magazine and Fikri Mühim agency.
Altınbaş was found to be the leader in its business category according to the results of the first Best Brands survey conducted by the Turkey branch of the international research company GFK.
In Sibermetrik Research Company’s independent survey of the industry, Altınbaş was found to be the most widely-recognized brand both in gold and in diamonds.
Altınbaş ranked as the top company in its business category in the 2007 research by Nielsen which looked into Turkey’s league of brands. According to the comprehensive Brand Survey conducted by Nielsen that studied the brands in Turkey under 116 separate categories, Altınbaş was found to be the brand which was mentioned the most often under the “gold” category, and the Company ranked quite high ahead of its competitors with a recognition level of 18,2%.
Altınbaş was selected as the “brand of the year” in the survey by Ekovitrin magazine. The Company was also counted among the top 27 most-successful super brands of Turkey and received the “Superbrands Turkey” award given by the international Superbrands organization.
Having been found to be the leader in its sector and a Best Brand by the most recent brand research conducted by GFK, Altınbaş continues to be the first choice for consumers thanks to its products and service quality in addition to the new concepts the Company introduced to the industry.
In 2009, Altınbaş became the only member of the international business organization CIBJO from Turkey. Selected as partner in Turkey by the International Gold Exchange, the Company created a special collection (L’Or collection).
As of 2011, Altınbaş was offering service with 264 domestic and 382 overseas sales points, and the number of the Company’s concept stores went up to 120.
In the same year, Altınbaş was presented with the Exports Award in the Precious Metals and Jewelry business segment within the context of TİM’s (Turkish Exporters’ Assembly) “Export Champions” assessment.
In 2013, Altınbaş was given the grand award by Istanbul Minerals and Metals Exporters’ Associations (İMMİB) in the “golden jewelry and other jewelry” category at the “Export Stars” Award Ceremony.
