A wedding list can seem like a very simple tool, but the closer you get to your big day the more important this particular step will become. With a myriad of details to keep track of, it is essential to stay on top of things and there is no easier way to do it than with a thorough and detailed check list. The sooner you start putting together your check list, the more you’ll appreciate it as your wedding nears.
So exactly where do you start when putting together a check list? The essential thing to remember is that your list should cover every imaginable wedding arrangement, down to the smallest detail. The more carefully you keep track of everything, the less likely it is that something will fall through the cracks. By staying ahead of the game, you can rest assured that all the bases will be covered.
Some items to include on your wedding list are ceremony details such as music, flowers, location, availability of the minister and transportation to and from. Reception details include catering, music, cake, seating arrangements and decorating. You can keep a separate list that covers outfitting on both the bride and groom’s side as there can be many small details that are involved in making sure that both halves of the wedding party are properly dressed.
The first wedding arrangement you made need to make is ordering and mailing invitations. Again, as this can be a complicated task, it might require its own separate check list. This could include ordering the invitations, buying stamps, deciding exactly who to invite and writing out and mailing the invitations themselves.
When it comes to organizing the clothing for yourself and your wedding party, you’ll need a very detailed wedding list. This should include everything from undergarments to shoes. You’ll need to choose dresses for the bridesmaids and yourself and then schedule fittings. Your groom will need to select tuxes for himself and his groomsman and make sure everyone has all of the necessary accessories. And don’t forget to include the wedding rings on the list!
Now you’re well on your way and the wedding arrangement can focus on the ceremony and reception. You’ll need to find a location for both, decide what you want to do about decorating, arrange for flowers and order a cake. Ordering the cake should go at the top of the reception check list as this can often be the most time consuming of the wedding related tasks, so it is wise to leave as much time for it as possible.
Finally, you’ll need a wedding list that covers the ceremony itself. If you are going to include your own vows you’ll need to take time to write them, you’ll want to choose rings and consult with your priest or officiant to find out if there are any requirements that must be met before the ceremony can be performed.
Your wedding day should be the happiest and most memorable day of your life. Proper planning, including the use of a well constructed check list or series of lists, can make all the difference. Don’t leave anything about your wedding to chance, make sure you have it all under control so you can relax and enjoy your big day!
